Blott.us is an art pad for the iPad in HTML5. Rather than use two-finger gestures to pan and zoom, Blott.us allows you to link two-finger gestures to different brush varialbes.
By default, the size and angle of the brush will match the spread and angle of your fingers. Just touch the canvas to begin painting.
To change how brush variables are linked to gestures, touch the arrow on the left edge of the canvas to open the Control Panel. The Control Panel contains three columns: Size, Angle, and Fixed. Select a variable in any column to determine how the variable is controlled.
The image to the left was drawn with single stroke. Blott.us also excels at silhouettes of dinosaurs, and line drawings with natural-looking strokes. Drawing a thin line involves a natural pencil-like gesture, with both fingers pressed gently together.
To save an image, touch the Make Saveable button. This button loads your drawing into a normal image that can be saved like other pictures on the web.
Notes:
To create an app icon for Blott.us on your iPad, press the "Add Bookmark" button in Mobile Safari, and choose "Add to Home Screen".
Blott.us is designed to fill the entire iPad screen. This requires a third-party browser, capable of removing the iPad task bar.
Because Blott.us ignores scrolling gestures, the screen may become stuck with some interface elements out of reach. The "Saveable" image can be touched to scroll the canvas back into place.
Changes:
July 7, 2010 - Replaced all radio buttons with a smaller number of dropdown menus. They're easier to hit, and take up less space in the panel.
July 4, 2010 - Blott.us exists! Only two brushes, messy code, and an avalanche of radio buttons.
